Crossing the Border: Mental Health Challenges for Immigrant Youth and Families

Post date: Apr 7, 2015 8:37:02 PM

Immigrant children and their families live with a unique mix of internal and external struggles. Our efforts to offer mental health services, medical care, and/or family supports are complicated or facilitated by ourunderstanding of these struggles. Trauma, loss, separation, anxiety and displacement all contribute to the barriers to accessing care, better emotional health, and improved functioning.

This program will examine some of the mental health challenges immigrant children and their families, and the providers who serve them, encounter via a psychodynamic exploration of the issues.

* Continuing education credits are available for this program.
